Thank you all for supporting Madagascar’s biodiversity. We are expecting that through EEN, Madagascar’s voice will be heard by the proper ears.

According to the Congressional Research Service, in June 2012, Madagascar faces a host of environmental pressures, and illegal logging and endangered wildlife exports have reportedly substantially increased under the HAT. Congress has expressed concern with threats to Madagascar’s unique ecosystem, as well as with the country’s ongoing political and development challenges. The House of Representatives passed legislation in 2009, H.Res. 839, condemning the 2009 coup and the illegal extraction of Madagascar’s natural resources.

However, there is hope for the future as a month ago, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon welcomes the decision by the President of the Transition in Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, not to run in the forthcoming presidential elections planned for this year.

We will keep you posted on this.
Meanwhile, please be aware that your support is important. It helps us realize that we are not fighting all by ourselves.

    Best,
